Melco Reports and Entertainment is an Asian gambling giant that has pledged to ban single-use plastic amongst its workers and guests equally. From mid-2019 they started identifying the different types of packaging to develop strategies to deal with each type accordingly – re-useable, compostable, non-re-usable. They’ve also started a new sustainability strategy that will contribute to their eco actions until 2030.
3. Sibaya Casino
Sibaya Casino is situated in South Africa’s Durban and its approach to cutting down waste is quite serious, with every aspect of the casino has been involved. Everyone in the casino staff is encouraged to recycle, reuse and reduce the food waste going into a compost. This is a superfast compost as it’s a wormery so the worms transform all the waste into useful compost.
4. MGM Resorts
The MGM China announced that it will eliminate the plastic straws take-out cutlery and packaging to its franchise in fall last year. They approx. discard 860,000 straws and 470,000 take-out boxes every year and hope to reduce the damage and strain on the earth with this new strategy.
5. Resorts World Sentosa
It is Singapore’s big casino resort, which is the latest to discard plastic straws in a bid to help save the planet. This plan will engross all their entertainment venues including Universal Studios Singapore and S.E.A. Aquarium. As per estimation, they will cut down 1.2 tonnes of plastic being thrown out and into landfills.
6. Mandalay Bay Resorts
Mandalay Bay Resorts is popular for its eco-friendly approach. They are known to save on food waste in the kitchen and use locally-sourced ingredients to sort waste out by recycling on-site. They are dedicated to their pledge to the environment seriously.
They also donate the linen that’s no longer up to scratch for their guests to NSPCA (Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and they deactivate the heating systems in some areas at specific periods.
